I'm not sure if I have blogged about this so I wanted to make sure and do so.
We are currently #14 on the DRC waitlist for a
GIRL under 12 months
AND
BOY 3yrs or younger.
We have started construction on the "nursery" to accommodate both of them....we'll see if that plan sticks. So designing/decorating a space for both genders should be interesting. I'll do my best to make it as girly and as not-so-girly as possible. Should be a great test of my decorating abilities!!
So.... we are very excited about welcoming TWO precious gifts from God into our hearts and into our family!!!!

Nursery Bedding love
I found "Lottie Da" on Etsy. She does amazing crib bedding sets. I couldn't resist picking out my fabric and emailing her about making my bedding. It may be a few months (like 9) premature, but when I do things like this is helps with the wait and makes this seem more real.
Im so excited!
This will be the bumper..
This will be the sheet...And this will be the accent fabric for the ruffle crib skirt and ruffle on the bumper!
So in LOVE with Heather Bailey fabric!

Adoption Update!
I told myself that I would only email our amazing caseworker at One World once per month.... well I'm about 7 days shy of that right now....but I HAD to know what (if anything) was new.
Of course she emailed me back just a few minutes later and said that referrals have been going out and things are looking great. She wasn't sure if our dossier had been translated yet, but she knew it would be by the time we got our referral.
She also said that we have moved to number #14!!!!!!!!!!!
We are praying for our children every day and trying to remember this:
"Where We See Time, God Sees TIMING"

Sewing: God's way of taking my mind off of WAITing!
God sure knows how I operate. He knows what keeps me busy and focused. He knows what keeps my head from going crazy with this wait. I'm blessed that He gave me the talent of sewing!
Over the past few weeks I have been a sewing maniac! Mostly orders from my Etsy shop. Some days I get to take a "break" from orders and get to create new items...but lately it's been all orders! Thank you Jesus!
ALL of the proceeds from my shop go toward our adoption fund. I always give God the glory. He is really blessing my fundraising efforts through my sewing!
So this past weekend I added a couple new items to my shop including these personalized burp rags...
This new birthday hat... personalized with the name, not the number. REusable year after year!
I had another order for a jewelry/photo board. . .
Did some cute personalized 1st birthday bibs.
And... this short set. Not my pick of fabric, but it turned out cute.
So needless to say I have been keeping myself busy.
My family has been busy as well!!
Laynie (my 15yr old in Sept, step-daughter) has started HS softball practice. I can't believe it's already that time of year! She's excited and I am looking forward to seeing her blossom this first year of high school!!!
Blake (my 11yr old step-son) is starting Fall baseball practice next week. Our house is all about the ball!!! Blake is an excellent baseball player and the older he gets the more enjoyable it is to watch him play.
Clint (my hubby) has been working on the nursery transformation. He's completely done with the outside and now gets to enjoy working indoors in the airconditioning!! He's doing such a wonderful job! I thank God for my husband every day!

Funny Friday
I'm not sure about you, but the website called People of WalMart really makes me laugh. I wanted a good chuckle today, so I went to the website and searched for pics only relating to "Oklahoma". Shocker that there was like 23 pages of pics from OK alone!! Oiy!
So here are a few to make you laugh too!
Happy Friday!
Ok, so I have probably been burned like this before, but WOW!
Thank goodness Clint brought me straight home from the hospital last week, because everyone knows once you leave the hospital you HAVE to stop off at WalMart!! haha.
This poor, poor dog! I hate to see what he gets tied up with at home :(
This picture not only made me laugh because the kid is dragging behind the Dad (or G-Pa), but LOOK at those DIRTY feet!!!! HOly cow!
This picture speaks for itself!!!

We think THIS is HOT??
Yes, some would say it is HOT here in Oklahoma right now.... heck, I say it every time I get in my car and it says "108" or higher! As hot as it is here, and as brown as my grass keeps getting...nothing compares to the drought that is happening in Africa right now.
I read this article today on msnbc.com and it put our heat in perspective! Here's just a little bit of the article:UNICEF on Thursday called the drought and refugee crisis "the most severe humanitarian emergency in the world." The international Red Cross signaled "great alarm" this week at the nutritional state of Somali children.
So the next time I get in my car and crank the air conditioner while complaining about the current temps, I'll think of the thousands of men, women and children that are doing everything they can to just survive and say a prayer... I hope you will too!

Thousands of Somalis are walking days and sometimes weeks to reach the refugee complex known as Dadaab, in hopes of finding food.
But the journey is claiming untold numbers of children as victims.
Andrew Wander, a spokesman for Save the Children, said his agency is providing care to more than 300 unaccompanied children who were found on roadsides after their parents died or abandoned them on their way to Dadaab.
"More children have died of malnutrition in the first four months of this year than in the whole of last year," he said.
So the next time I get in my car and crank the air conditioner while complaining about the current temps, I'll think of the thousands of men, women and children that are doing everything they can to just survive and say a prayer... I hope you will too!

Working on new Etsy items
In between my Etsy orders I have been trying to make time for other crafts. I have a huge stack of "to do" patterns and ideas and really no time to do them! Over the last couple of weeks I have made time to get a few things done so that I can continue to add variety to my Etsy store.
So coming soon to Sew Cute and Crafty ......
Jewelry/Photo holder. I will have 11x14 and 8x10 for sale (other sizes are available upon request). The 11x14 will be $45 and the 8x10 will be $35. You choose the fabric!
Flower wreaths. I have the smaller one hanging in my kitchen and the larger one is on my back door. They are so cheerful! These are the summer version. I will have fall/Halloween and Christmas ones too. The smaller wreath measures 10" diameter,(first pic), and will be $25. The larger wreath measures 14" in diameter (second pic) and will be $35.
You can give me the colors you prefer for the flowers as well.
YAY! My chalkboard labels are now being created! This is just a quick sample I made last night. Somewhat in a hurry. I will have many of these in different shapes and sizes and I can cut anything you want within a 12x24" space. I love this stuff! Chalk glides over it so well! Prices will vary from $2-$30...just depends on the cut and size!
I have had my pieces cut out for this little African dolly for months!!! I finally MADE the time to get her done! You can choose the fabric for her legs and body. You can even have a name put on her like these found here. She is $18.
And lastly I am making personalized name birthday hats. My others have the #, but some people may want to use them for more then just one year....so this solves that problem! You can pick the fabric and the name color. $18.00. This one had a longer name... Madison.
There ya have it... a few things coming soon to my Etsy shop!
Don't let that stop you from ordering something now. Just email me or comment below and we can get your order going!!!
I'm getting ready to start on 6 shirts for a wonderful adoptive family! She wanted something for all the kids to wear for their homecoming! I am beyond excited to get started on this project!
*ALL of the proceeds from my Etsy shop go straight toward bringing our kids home from the Democratic Republic of Congo! So thank you so much for all the support!!!!!*

Construction News and 4th of July happenings
I'm a sucker for tradition. Especially on the holidays! Every July 4th we get up and go to the 4th of July parade in Edmond. Then we swim and just have fun for the day. Around 6 we go across the street and meet up with our friends and Life Group (our church bible study group) for some cooking out, homemade ice cream, a friendly game of cul-de-sac wiffle ball, and then off to the local college for some awesome fireworks!!!
We are blessed to have a wonderful group of friends to spend the 4th with!
And of course...the summer time would not be complete without a trip to the doctor for Blake and his attraction to poison ivy!!!! On Saturday his nose/face started to swell so I took him to the after hours clinic. I joked with him that they would have to give him a shot in his face, so when the doc said that they would be giving him a shot...he looked at me with HUGE eyes! ;)
Poor guy!
Here he is, taking it like a "man" in his hip. This picture cracks me up.
Here's my floating hubby enjoying some swim time after the parade.
This long weekend allowed me to get in some pretty good crafting time! I'm always excited about that!
I made this wreath for my back door. I thought about putting these on my Etsy store too. Super cute and easy to make!!
I made another framed jewelry/photo holder. I just have pictures displayed on it right now, but it's going in my Etsy store for sure!! I just love how these turn out! (sorry it's sideways. For some reason every time I load it, it turns! ugh)
And lastly, I finished an order for this cute dress. LOVE this Amy Butler fabric!!
My hard working hubby spent the weekend working on the nursery!
We went from this......
To this.......... framed!!!! I was SHOCKED when he said to come look!
He was now able to start tearing out the wall to connect the two. So he put plastic up and got to work.
By the end of the weekend it looked like this. Insulated and everything! I was so proud of his hard work! All the ideas I have for this room just make me giddy!
